Becky Olvera Schultz, Museum of the American Indian in Novato

Native Expressions, Art Exhibit at Museum of the American Indian in Novato

March 2 through June 28th, 2019

From March 2 until June 28, 2019, Museum of the American Indian in Novato will present the exhibit, Native Expressions, featuring my art. On display will be my Native American art masks, Southwest style masks, photography, serigraphs, rawhide shields and other mixed media works. This will be my eighth museum exhibition and the 2nd time I’ve exhibited at this museum. Ten years ago my exhibit featured only my masks with the name of the show entitled, Masks of the Americas. The Novato Advance published a great article about the exhibit.

My art is inspired by the peoples indigenous to the Americas. I work in many mediums but I’m best known for my masks which have been described as intense, awesome, powerful, cutting edge, beautiful, spiritual, dramatic and even intimidating.  They have been featured in the national magazines Cowboys & Indians, Wild West and Native Peoples.

The opening reception is Saturday, March 2 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Free admission to members, $5.00 for non-members.  Refreshments will be served and we’ll have Unole, a women’s Native American Drum, performing. If you are in Marin county, please come by and join us and enjoy the exhibit.

The museum is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. It is located in Novato at Miwok Park , 2200 Novato Boulevard, Novato, CA 94947. It is a nonprofit and suggested donation admission to ongoing exhibit for non-members is Adults: $5, Children/Seniors: $3, Families, $10.  Free admission to museum members.
